Platinum Lincoln A Top Prospect
10 Aug 2012
Mark down the well-related Platinum Lincoln as a three-year-old with a bright future following his successful Riccarton debut on Saturday.
The Goodwood Stud graduate was impressive at the first time of asking for Awapuni trainer Lisa Latta in beating his more experienced rivals.
“He’s a gorgeous horse and a pleasure to do anything with,” she said. “He had a jumpout at home a couple of weeks ago and has taken natural improvement from that.”
Latta has yet to confirm his immediate programme, but is looking at the early season age group events with the gelding.
Platinum Lincoln is a son of champion European first-season sire Iffraaj and the winning Jetball mare Midnight Call.
She was also placed in the Gr 3 Lowland Stakes and is a daughter of the Listed Cambridge Breeders’ Stakes winner Tough Call.
Her sister Call Spades also won the Te Rapa feature while the headline act in the pedigree is Scarlett Lady.
She was the dual Gr 1 winner of the Queensland Oaks and the New Zealand Stakes.
Gr 3 Manawatu Challenge Stakes winner Justanexcuse is a current member of this family.
Platinum Lincoln was purchased by Latta for $60,000 out of Godowood’s 2011 Select Sale draft to Karaka.
