Pinyin adds to Singapore tally
20 Oct 2014Goodwood Stud graduate Pinyin struck another winning blow in Singapore last night.
The son of Pins now boasts a tidy career record of three victories and seven placings from 19 appearances.
Pinyin is trained by Englishman David Hill and was partnered in the 1800m event at Kranji by the Brazilian rider Ivaldo Santana.
“The pace was ridiculously fast early, and that helped my horse a lot,” Hill said.
“He’s been a consistent horse to us and on that trip, you had to give him a chance. Santana rode him brilliantly.”
Pinyin was originally purchased by Te Akau principal David Ellis out of Goodwood’s 2011 Premier Sale draft at Karaka for $60,000.
He is out the More Than Ready mare Gifted Lass, who is a half-sister to the multiple Australian stakes winner Presently.
Pinyin is also a half-brother to the promising Iffraaj filly Serena Miss, who was runner-up on debut at Wanganui last month.
She was bought by co-trainer Graeme Rogerson from Goodwood’s Karaka line-up earlier this year for $65,000.
