Barbaric in fine fettle
24 Oct 2014Barbaric emphasised his readiness to return for a Group One campaign with a tidy trial performance at Cambridge this week.
The Pins six-year-old won his 950 metre heat for trainer Stephen Marsh in the hands of Danielle Johnson.
“This time he’s come up really well, no problems at all,” Marsh said.
Bred and raced by Goodwood Stud, Barbaric is the winner of six of his 17 starts.
His career highlight so far has been his victory in last year’s Levin Stakes at Otaki.
Barbaric hasn’t raced since July with the Group One sprints the Railway Stakes and the Telegraph Handicap among his future options.
“He’ll kick off on Saturday the 8th at Te Rapa again,” Marsh said.
“It’s 2000 Guineas day so we might be short of riders – hopefully we can get a good one, he’ll be hard to beat.”
Barbaric will resume in the Listed Liberty Lodge Sprint over 1200 metres.
