Emotional win at Te Awamutu
27 Nov 2014Oscar Legend posted an emotion-charged victory at Te Awamutu this afternoon when he recorded his maiden win.
The Goodwood Stud graduate was purchased at Karaka by former jockey Tony Williams, who passed away last week.
“Tony bought the horses at the sales and has managed him all the way through,’ winning rider Derek Nolan said.
“He was looking down on me today – it’s beautiful.”
Oscar Legend is a son of former Goodwood resident Chinese Dragon from the family of the champion stayer Castletown.
He was secured for $40,000 and the four-year-old is trained by Patsy Riley at Pukekohe.
She has been patient with the gelding and his only other appearance resulted in a runner-up finish at Ruakaka in August.
