Big plans for top filly
21 Feb 2015Graeme Rogerson has ambitious plans for the talented Goodwood Stud graduate Serena Miss.
The Tuhikaramea trainer will shoot for the stars with Saturday’s Gr 2 Matamata Breeders’ Stakes winner.
Next on Serena Miss’ programme will be the Gr 1 Diamond Stakes at Ellerslie before Rogerson looks further afield.
“We’ll go to Auckland and she might even go to Sydney,” he said.
Serena Miss was resuming at Matamata after a win and two placings from her initial preparation.
“She’s been unlucky and probably should have won every start,” Rogerson said
“She was three wide a the way today so it was a big run – she’s a very good filly and will be a great three-year-old.”
Sold by Goodwood at Karaka last year for $65,000, Serena Miss is out of the more Than Ready mare Gifted Lass.
She is also the dam of the Gr 1 New Zealand Derby hope Gifted Lad, also a Goodwood product.
