Barbaric savages sprint rivals
25 Apr 2015Stephen Marsh was expecting a bold showing from Barbaric at Te Rapa and he wasn’t disappointed.
The Goodwood Stud-bred and raced Pins gelding was back in business with a stylish win in the open sprint.
“It’s great to see him return like that,” he said. “He’s sound and he loves the track and always goes well fresh.”
Barbaric was quickly into stride and was given an economical trip behind the pace by rider Michael McNab.
“He jumped well and travelled a treat,’ Marsh said. “Michael gave him a peach of a ride.”
Barbaric lengthened stride to hit the front 150 metres from home to record the seventh win of his 21-start career.
“There’s not a lot around for him so we’ll just potter along through the winter,” Marsh said.
“He could be back here for a race like the Foxbridge Plate later on.”
